Public consultations

In September 2004, we wrote to local residents to ask for feedback on our proposed assistance schemes. There were four suggested schemes:

  • Two schemes to protect against airport noise – for noise sensitive buildings and people living in the 2002 69 decibel noise contour, as defined in the Government's White Paper on the Future of Aviation.
  • Two schemes to protect against property blight – for property owners in or close to the area where land would be required for future runway development.

The consultation ended in January 2005, having been opened up to residents north of the M4. We had many useful suggestions from our consultation with local communities. This feedback gave us a great deal to consider and has helped us to improve our schemes to address current airport noise and potential property blight, which may result from the Government’s proposals for airport expansion.

The results of the consultation, which were collated by an external consultancy are given below:
